I'm a writer because I have stage fright.
A boat wreck. A desperate swim for shore. A mysterious island. Do I have your attention? That’s this week’s challenge! Are you up to it?
Challenge: Discovery Island
Word count: 4,000 words or less
Genre: flash fiction, poem, short story, essay, song, scene from a film script or play, etc.
Due date: next Friday*
Prompt: Imagine you are going on a tropical cruise, a deep sea fishing trip, a scuba diving expedition, or you’re part of a search and rescue crew. Whatever the reason, have your character on a boat and send them out into deep water. Have the boat wreck somewhere mysterious—offshore of an island that does show up on any conventional map. Let your character discover something on that island that is sinister and unknown to the general world population. Then have your character be discovered by people who don’t want the secret to be made public. Write what happens next.
*If you want to share your writing with us, link your work to A Vase of Wildflowers on your blog and make sure to place the link to your story in the comments of this post.
