NaNoWriMo Kickoff

It’s almost time to get into the trenches, but first there is feasting and merrymaking. I went to a NaNoWriMo kickoff party tonight and met some great people and got a wonderful bag filled with magical things like candy and calendars.

We ate food of the comfort kind and mingled for a while. There was a costume contest, resulting in a 1st place for Elsa, 2nd place for Dr. Watson, and 3rd place for Professor McGonagall. We also got a toy soldier that acts as a totem and that we each named (mine was given the prestigious name of Lance Corporal Fancy Pants).

Then we made “inner editors” out of popsicle sticks and toothpicks that were quite external. My inner-outer-editor was the tragedy/comedy editor. In November, the tragedy editor is right side up, and he only has legs, so he cannot edit. In December, the comedy editor is right side up, which gives him hands, so he can begin the editing process.

I’m so excited to begin and to take this awesome journey with some really cool people. Don’t forget to add me as a writing buddy (L. N. Holmes). NaNoWriMo — challenge excepted!
